JAXA astronaut Akihiko Hoshide and STS-124 Mission crew members participated in the STS-124 Mission Debriefings in Tokyo, Tsukuba and Nagoya, Japan.

The space shuttle Discovery landed safely on the runway of the Kennedy Space Center (KSC) at 0:15 am today.

Today, the STS-124 Mission crewmembers took some off-duty time, the second and the last off-duty time on their 14-day mission. A NASA PAO event was held and all the crewmembers participated in that on-orbit media interview.

The space shuttle Discovery undocked from the ISS at 8:42 p.m. last night. Discovery and the STS-124 Mission crewmembers including Hoshide left the ISS completing the 10-day joint mission with the ISS crew. Discovery is now on the way back to the Earth.

Installation of the JEMRMS Backup Drive System (BDS) was completed at 10:39 p.m. last night. With that, all the Kibo-related tasks on the STS-124 mission were accomplished. At 5:42 a.m., the hatches between the ISS and Discovery were closed.

JEM Remote Manipulator System (JEMRMS), the Kibo's robotic arm, was fully deployed and finally translated into the stow position. After its final deployment, a series of the brake tests were conducted and it worked just as expected.

Today, the mission's third and final Extravehicular Activity (EVA) was conducted and all the scheduled tasks plus some get-ahead tasks were accomplished. Inside the ISS, the crew outfitted the vestibule between the Kibo's Experiment Logistics Module-Pressurized Section (ELM-PS) and Pressurized Module (PM) in preparation for the ingress to the ELM-PS scheduled tomorrow.
