The KOUNOTORI3 has successfully established three-axis attitude at 0:03 p.m. July 21. KOUNOTORI's system self-checks are ongoing in preparation for its first phase adjusting maneuver (Phase Maneuver1: PM1).

KOUNOTORI3 Initiates Communications with Tsukuba (HTV MCR) (July 21, 2012)

The KOUNOTORI3 has successfully established communications with the NASA's TDRS, and initiated communications with the HTV Mission Control Room (HTV MCR) at the Tsukuba Space Center (TKSC). The KOUNOTORI3 also established two-axis attitude.

Separations of the Solid Rocket Booster (SRB-A), the Fairing, the H-IIB First Stage occurred just as planned. The H-IIB Second Stage burned out approximately 15 minutes after the launch, and KOUNOTORI3 was successfully separated from the H-IIB Second Stage. Then, the KOUNOTORI3 was inserted into the planned initial orbit.

The H-IIB launch vehicle lifted off at 11:05 a.m., July 21, 2012. The H-IIB launch vehicle continues ascent toward orbit carrying KOUNOTORI3.

KOUNOTORI3 "Go" for Launch Today / 60 Min. Before Launch (July 21, 2012)

Sixty minutes before launch, JAXA gave the H-IIB launch vehicle "Go" for launch today. The KOUNOTORI3/H-IIB will take off from the TNSC launch complex shortly.
