Flight Day 1 (November 19 CST)

Columbia(STS-87) which has Dr. Doi as a mission specialist was launched at 4:46 am on November 20(JST) from Kennedy Space Center as scheduled. After the separation of Solid Rocket Booster and External Tank, the Columbia entered into the planned orbit of 150nm altitude about 50 minutes after launch.
