Zebrafish were delivered to the ISS aboard the Russian Soyuz spacecraft. NASA astronaut Barry Willmore transferred the fish into the Aquatic Habitat (AQH) on the Japanese Experiment Module "Kibo." AQH comprises two fish tanks and raises 12 zebrafish in total.

There is an LED light fixed above each fish tank, and it illuminates zebrafish. On the ISS under microgravity environment, there is no sense of up and down; however, since fish instinctively swim with their back toward the light (dorsal light response), they swim in a position similar to upright on Earth.
