Reheasals for Post-Flight Experiment Speciment Process

Reheasals for Post-Flight Experiment Speciment Process:

After the experiment speciments flown aboard the Nerolab Mission return to Earth, post-flight experiments to study thier adaptation to the 1g environment will be conducted. These experiments must be conducted under a strict time schedule, so quick and exact work is required. At Kennedy Space Center, the experiment procedures are being rehearsed.
Mammal Development Team Rehearsal
April 29, 1998 (CDT)
The Mammal Development Team conducted a rehearsal of the post-flight experiment at the Life Science Experiment Room of Kennedy Space Center.
- Rehearsal for litter P7-4
This group of rats will be handed over to the team of Dr. Baldwin Principal Investigator four hours after landing, and will reach Dr. Shimizu via Dr. Walton's team five hours after landing.

Rehearsal of Development of the Aortic Baroreflex under Condition of Microgravity
April 24, 1998 (CDT)
On April 24, a rehearsal for post-flight experiment using rats were conducted at the life science experiment room at Hanger L in NASA Kennedy Space Center.
These procedures are needed to prepare for the life science experiments using rats that had returned from the shuttle flight, to gain information on aortic nerve activities, blood vessel tension and examine various tissue. These rats are shared with other researchers, so quick and accurate work is required.

Rehearsal of Autonomic Neuroplasticity in Weightlessness Experiment
April 23, 1998 (CDT)
On April 21 at Kennedy Space Center a rehearsal was performed for measuring the plasticity of autonomous nerve system by using micro neurography. This task was conducted as a training of a comparison experiment to be performed to the crew members right after Columbia has returned to the earth. Electrodes were inserted to terminal nerves of the object personnel and the activities of the muscle sympathetic nerve were measured. A total of two sessions were performed, one in the morning and another was in the afternoon, both ended with good results.
