The JAXA Protein Crystal Growth experiment begins -sixth session of the second series-

Last Updated: July 6, 2017

The Protein Crystal Growth experiment (JAXA PCG; the sixth session of the second series) has begun in the Japanese Experiment Module ("Kibo"). The experiment materials and samples were carried aboard the Soyuz MS-04 spacecraft (50S) launched at 4:13 p.m. on April 20, 2017 (JST). The experiment began on April 21 after all the samples were installed in the Protein Crystallization Research Facility (PCRF).

The experiment on growing protein samples under controlled temperature will run until the removal of samples for return to the ground in June this year. There are 22 investigators for the session; one is from the private sector and the other 21 are mostly from universities and national research institutes that conduct research.
