The first advanced training was conducted at the European Space Agency (ESA) European Astronaut Centre in Germany from the latter half of August to the early September.
Advanced training is conducted at the international partners' facilities to deepen the astronauts' understanding of the systems and operations of the International Space Station (ISS). Astronauts Furukawa and Hoshide with Astronauts Doi and Wakata as well as ESA and NASA astronauts, ten astronauts in total, participated in the following training.

Exchange of opinions with teachers

Advanced technology experience program organized by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology was again held this year by the Institute for Teachers at TKSC from August 19 to 22. This program seeks to introduce industrial high-school teachers to advanced technology and how to apply it to teaching in their classes.
On opening day, astronaut Hoshide exchanged opinions with thirty teachers gathered from all over Japan about the significance of space development and so on.
