The fourth session of the High Quality Protein Crystallization (JAXA PCG), which has been performed using the Protein Crystallization Research Facility (PCRF) on Kibo, was successfully completed.
The Monitor of All-sky X-ray Image (MAXI) on Kibo, in coordination with the gamma-ray burst satellite Swift (USA), observed the instant that a massive black hole swallowed a star for the first time in the world, located in the center of a galaxy 3.9 billion light years away. This result was published in Nature online, issued on August 25 Japan time.
The second session of Dynamism of Auxin Efflux Facilitators, CsPINs, Responsible for Gravity-regulated Growth and Development in Cucumber (CsPINs), which has been performed using the Cell Biology Experiment Facility (CBEF) on board Kibo, was completed.
The second session of CsPINs, which uses the Cell Biology Experiment Facility (CBEF) on board Kibo, has started.
The fourth session of the High Quality Protein Crystallization (JAXA PCG), which uses the Protein Crystallization Research Facility (PCRF), has started on board Kibo.
In Kibo, JAXA Astronaut Furukawa has started the second 'Production of Two Dimensional NanoTemplate in Microgravity (2D-NanoTemplate)', and deployed Area PADLES for monitoring the cosmic radiation environment of fixed points in Kibo.
