STS-127 Mission Launch Postponed
NASA announced postponement of the launch of space shuttle Endeavour's STS-127 mission, scheduled at 6:40 p.m. on June 17. The launch was scrubbed due to a hydrogen leak at the Ground Umbilical Carrier Plate (GUCP) during tanking.
The GUCP is the overboard vent used to carry excess hydrogen safely away from the launch pad.
A similar hydrogen leak had scrubbed the first launch attempt for Endeavour on June 13. NASA engineers had since replaced a seven inch quick disconnect on the hydrogen vent line to the GUCP leading into the Endeavour's external tank. However, the leak was detected at the same area during tanking today.
