After Space Shuttle Columbia de-orbited at 10:10a.m. CDT on May 3, the
Columbia performed the de-orbit maneuver at Kennedy Space Center on time
at 12:08 p.m. EDT on May 3, 1998, successfully ending 16 days of on-orbit
science activities.
The Columbia flew for 15 days, 21 hours, 50minutes and went around the
Earth 255 times (6.375 million mile) in the mission.
During the STS-90 mission,NASDA astronaut Dr. Chiaki Mukai, as the Alternate
Payload Specialist (APS), supported the on board crew experiment activities
from the Mission Control Center (MCC) located at NASA Johnson Space Center.
She said " I'm very happy that the STS-90 mission was successful.
It's a relief, I have just finished successfully my work as an APS for
the STS-90 mission operation. "
