Crew of STS-90






Commander

Richard A. Searfoss


Searfoss has flown twice on the Space Shuttle, as pilot on Columbia during the STS-58 mission in October 1993 and on Atlantis during the STS-76 mission in March 1996. The latter mission docked with the Russian space station Mir.

Pilot

Scott Altman


Altman will be making his first space flight on STS-90 following the successful completion of more than one year of training to prepare for his assignment to Shuttle flights. He worked on technical aspects of Orbiter landing.

Mission Specialist

Rick Linnehan

Dr. Linnehan flew on STS-78 Life and Microgravity Spacelab (LMS) mission. Dr. Linnehan will be making his second flight into space. He is working on payload development and mission development flight support for Neurolab.

Mission Specialist

Kay Hire

Hire has worked in mission control center at JSC as a spacecraft communicator (CAPCOM) since April 1996. Hire will be making her first flight into space.

Mission Specialist

Dave Williams

Dr. Williams, a medical doctor and Canadian Space Agency (CSA) astronaut, will fly in space for the first time on STS-90.

Payload Specialist

Jay Bucky

Dr. Buckey, a medical doctor and first flight on STS-90, served as a alternate payload specialist on the Space Life Science-2 (SLS-2).

Payload Specialist

Jim Pawelczyk

Dr. Pawelczyk participated in investigations flown on two Shuttle-Mir flight and is a Co-investigator and conducts both task and mission trainin g to support experiments of Neurolab Mission.

Alternate Payload Specialist

Chiaki Mukai

Dr. Mukai, Medical doctor, supported Dr. Mohri on orbit from ground as alternate payload specialist on STS-47 (SL-J) in 1992 and flew on STS-65 the Second International Microgravity Laboratory (IML-2) mission as payload specialist in 1994. Dr. Mukai is also assigned as a prime PS for STS-95 in October 1998.

Alexander Dunlap

Dr. Dunlap, a Veterinarian and medical doctor, has supported five previous Shuttle missions such as SLS-1 in 1992 and SLS-2 in 1995.
