STS-94 Crew





Commander

James D.Hausell,Jr

Hausell has flown twice on the Space Shuttle, as pilot on Columbia during the STS-65 mission in July 1994 and on Atlantis for STS-74, the second Shuttle-Mir docking mission.

Pilot

Susan Leigh Still

Still will be making her first space flight on STS-83 following the successful completion of more than one year of training to prepare her for assignment to Shuttle flights.

Mission Specialist

Micheal L.Gernhardt


Gernhardt will be making his second journey in to space having flown previously on Endeavour during STS-69, the second flight of the Wake Shield Facility.

Payload commander

Janice Voss

Voss flew on STS-57 aboard Endeavour in June 1993 and STS-63 aboard Discovery in February 1995, the Shuttle mission that conducted a rendezvous within 37 feet of the Russian Space Station Mir. Voss earned her doctorate in aeronautics/astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1977. She considers Rochford,IL, her hometown.

Mission Specialist

Donald A.Thomas

Thomas will be making his third flight aboard the Shuttle. He flew on a 15-day microgravity laboratory mission aboard Columbia in July 1994 (STS-65) and most recently on STS-70 aboard Discovery in July 1995, to deploy a Tracking and Data Relay Satellite. Thomas earned a master of science and doctorate from Cornell University in 1980 and1982, respectively.

Payload Specialist

Roger K.Crouch

Crouch earned a Ph.D. in physics from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Blacksburg, VA. He is the lead microgravity scientist in NASA's office of Life and Microgravity Sciences and Applications, Washington DC. Then 55year old Crouch was an alternate payload specialist for STS-42, the First International Microgravity Laboratory mission.

Payload Specialist

Gregory Linteris

Linteris earned a Ph.D. in mechanical and aerospace engineering from Princeton University, Princeton, NJ. He is a mechanical engineer at the National Institute of Standards and Technology, Gaithersburg MD, where he is responsible for developing a research program on advanced fire suppressants.
