The ISS / Kibo Times will be issued quarterly to introduce Japan's activities on the Japanese Experiment Module "Kibo", the International Space Station (ISS), and the activities of JAXA Astronauts.
Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), in collaboration with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) under Japan - U.S. Open Platform Partnership Program (JP-US OP3) for maximizing ISS utilization outcomes and increasing cooperation with countries in the Asia-Pacific region, held the 1st Kibo-Robot Programming Challenge (RPC) final round on October 8, 2020.
The Kibo-ABC staff is glad to hold an annual meeting of the Kibo-ABC Workshop online on November 4, 2020. Kibo-ABC is a collaborative program established by the Space Environment Utilization Working Group (SEUWG) of APRSAF. It aims to promote ISS/Kibo utilization in the Asia-Pacific region and share and build on the outcomes of "Kibo" utilization. We have had a face-to-face meeting of SEUWG and Kibo-ABC in APRSAF every year, but this year's meeting was cancelled due to COVID-19.
Special Talk: CATCH MY OWN UNIVERSE
Astronaut NOGUCHI Soichi will shortly head to the International Space Station (ISS) from NASA's Kennedy Space Center on the Crew Dragon, a new type of spacecraft developed by SpaceX, a US space firm. For humans to travel from Earth into space, we essentially need to tap into science, which is knowledge shared by humankind. At the same time, it is the experience of each individual that sustains the knowledge. Human space flight is a visual embodiment of experience both as humankind and as individuals. ITOI Shigesato has observed the engagements of both individuals and humankind as a copywriter through his creative activities of producing words and contents. An online dialogue between Noguchi and Itoi explores the essence of human flight to space.
Asian Herb in Space (AHiS) is an activity of the Asian Beneficial Collaboration through Kibo Utilization initiative (Kibo-ABC) under the Space Environment Utilization Working Group (SEUWG) of the Asia-Pacific Regional Space Agency Forum (APRSAF). AHiS is the third project of the Space Seeds for Asian Future program (SSAF).
As a result of the Flight Readiness Review (FRR) on November 10 (ET), Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and partner agencies of the International Space Station (ISS) project officially decided the launch date and time for the Crew Dragon spacecraft (Crew-1), which JAXA Astronaut NOGUCHI Soichi will be onboard.
JAXA Astronaut NOGUCHI will stay at the ISS for about six months and will return to the Earth on the Crew Dragon spacecraft (Crew-1).
