of Arts.
The research group of "Artistic Approaches to Space" works
on a "MUSE Plan" which aims at implementing art projects
in a space environment, mainly by utilizing the Japanese Experimental
Module Kibo. Each project presented its latest research results achieved
through cooperation with JAXA.
After giving his lecture, Astronaut Hoshide actually viewed samples
made by the projects. One was entitled "Kokoro no ba (Place of
Mind)"; it was an egg-shaped capsule embodying a space in which
one can meditate while listening to cello music. Astronaut Hoshide
tried it and said, "I felt like I was in space because I had no
sense of perspective."
