The Moody Blues awakened Discovery's seven astronauts at 4:15 a.m. Central
time this morning for their eighth day of on-orbit science activities.
The song, "I Know You are Out There Somewhere" was chosen by
Commander Curt Brown's family. On orbit experiments are in the final stage.
Crew members are spending busy hours and everything is approaching towards
the end of the mission without any probrem.
Today from 12:10p.m.(CST) crew conference was held with STS-95 crew and
the reporters on the ground. To the question by a Japanese reporter asking
about Astronaut Mukai's will to visit space for the 3rd or 4th time, she
answered "More people should go to space more often. At present, as
a Japanese astronaut only I am measuring in the field of life science or
medicine. In case nobody follows me I might have other chances to go to
space for the 3rd or 4th time."
From about 2:50p.m.(CST) STS-95 crew had another chance to communicate
with Vice President Al Gore, former Astronaut Scott carpenter and school
children. To Mr. Carpenter's question, "How many times did you somersault
?" astronaut Glenn answered " Many times !".
