NASDA Daily Report Back

SPARTAN retrieved
November 3 (CST) Flight Day 6

Space Shuttle Discovery has been normally orbiting the earth in the second half of its flight. Crew members were awaken by a rock'n'roll in honor of Mission Specialist Steve Robinson. Robinson is known as a member of the astronaut band known as "MAX Q."

SPARTAN solar physics satellite deployed from the cargo bay of Discovery on the flight day 4 was retrieved as scheduled today. Commander Curtis Brown operated Discovery to rendezvous with the satellite. With the assistance of Scott Parazynski, Mission Specialist Steve Robinson used a robot arm and grappled the satellite successfully.

A lot of experiments have been conducted smoothly in orbit.

Discovery is now orbiting the Earth every 95 minutes at an altitude of 555 km.

Today' Astronaut Mukai
She is continuously working hard as she conducts the experiment on toad fishes, draws blood from both astronaut Duque and Glenn, takes pictures of the material processing experiments, and conducts Astroculture experiment.

Japanase Experiments
Astronaut Mukai pulled out the fish packages, each of which a toad fish is located, from the Vestibular Function Experiment Unit (VFEU), and gave it a movement manually.
This acceleration enables us to see the change in neural activity where these fish packages are under microgravity / acceleration condition.
