Space Environment Data Acquisition equipment-Attached Payload Acceptance TestAn acceptance test is being conducted in Tsukuba Space Center (TKSC) on the Space Environment Data Acquisition equipment-Attached Payload (SEDA-AP). SEDA-AP is the first laboratory equipment to be installed on the Japanese Experiment Module "Kibo" Exposed Facility and will quantitatively measure the orbital space environment of the ISS. It will also conduct experiments on exposed materials. An electronic parts assessment test will also be conducted to assesshow the space environment affectscomponents and materials.

When the vendor delivers the equipment they have developed, JAXA conducts an acceptance test. This test is intended to verify whether the equipment has been manufactured under the specifications requested and whether it is suitable to be transported to the ISS.
At this time, the SEDA-AP flight model is going to be the test article. An electromagnetic compatibility test, acoustic test, and thermal vacuum test will be conducted at the Electromagnetic Compatibility Test Facility, Acoustic Test Facility, and 8m- diameter Space Chamber at TKSC.
Test | Purpose |

Electromagnetic Compatibility Test | Verify that there will be no electromagnetic noise emissions from the SEDA-AP affecting other mechanics and the ISS, and the SEDA-AP should not be affected by other mechanical systems. |
Acoustic Test | Verify that the SEDA-AP withstands the loud noise and vibration environments during the launch of the Space Shuttle. |
Thermal Vacuum Test | Verify that temperature of each part of the SEDA-AP stays within the specified range under the thermal vacuum environment in space. |
After the completion of the acceptance test, the Flight Crew Interface Test (FCIT) will be conducted in order for the crew to actually confirm its comprehensiveness. These final tests of the SEDA-AP flight model will continue until the end of 2004. The results will be stored until the time of the launch.
