The Malaysia National Water Rocket Competition organized by Malaysian National Space Agency (ANGKASA) was held from August 22 to 25, 2015, in the Stadium Arena of the University of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur. This year, the solid-fuel rocket category was introduced as a new category. Estes B4-4 was used as the solid fuel. The competition is composed of four categories: the Best Presentation Category, the Targeting Category, the Parachute Category, and the Solid-fuel Rocket Category.
As Malaysia has been participating in a parabolic flight experiment as part of the Kibo-ABC program since 2007, special booths introducing microgravity and parabolic flight experiments were also set up during the event. A total of about 50 participants have visited these booths and earnestly received lectures about microgravity activities in Malaysia, including the utilization of Kibo ISS. Apart from this, there were also booths about space science and astronomy.
A total of 38 students and 19 teachers from 19 schools all over the country participated in the program, and the winner of the competition was Sekolah Menengah Teknik Tuanku Jaafar (a junior technical high school in Negeri Sembilan). The champion of this competition will have the opportunity to participate in APRSAF-22 WATER ROCKET EVENT, an international event held in Bali, Indonesia!
