The ISS/Kibo Times - Autumn issue 2018 -

The ISS / Kibo Times will be issued quarterly to introduce Japan's activities on the Japanese Experiment Module "Kibo", the International Space Station (ISS), and the activities of JAXA Astronauts.

Utilization of Electrostatic Levitation Furnace (ELF) has been started to obtain thermophysical properties of high-temperature melts (October 23, 2018)

The checkout of the Electrostatic Levitation Furnace (ELF) has been completed and the experiments proposed from users have been started.


Three CubeSats successfully deployed from "Kibo"! (October 26, 2018)

Three CubeSats were successfully deployed on October 6, 2018 from the Japanese Experiment Module "Kibo": "SPATIUM-I" of Nanyang Technological University (Singapore)/Kyushu Institute of Technology (Japan), "RSP-00" of Ryman Sat Spaces General Incorporated Association and "STARS-Me" of Shizuoka University (Japan).


Joint research starts for experiments in "Kibo" as part of the "Study on Phase Behavior of Multi-component Colloidal Clusters under Microgravity," a feasibility study theme using "Kibo" selected in 2015 (October 30, 2018)

Presentations to be delivered at AMS 2018 on the current status of Kibo utilization research and the experimental equipment on board (November 12, 2018)

The JAXA will make two presentations at the 12th Asian Microgravity Symposium (AMS 2018) which will be held in Zhuhai of Guangdong, China, from 12th to 16th of November, 2018 on the current status of research utilizing the JEM "Kibo" and the experimental equipment on board.


Kibo-ABC Members Participated in the Special Lecture of the "Protein Crystal Growth" Experiment (November 29, 2018)

Dr. Izumi Yoshizaki, the project manager of the JAXA Protein Crystal Growth project (JAXA PCG), joined the Kibo-ABC regular monthly web conference on September 27th to give a special lecture on the PCG experiment.

The 25th session of the Asia-Pacific Regional Space Agency Forum (APRSAF-25) was successfully convened at Sheraton Towers Singapore from November 6 to 9, 2018. The Space Environment Utilization Working Group (SEUWG) and the Kibo-ABC Workshop were held.
