Crew of Discovery were awakened at 6:00 a.m. (CST) by Andy Williams' "Moon
River". Annie Glenn, a spouse of Astronaut Glenn, requested the song
as a tribute to the long standing friendship between Williams and her husband,
astronaut Jonn Glenn.
Space experiments are going well. Today, crews were given several hours
off duty.
Today, astronaut Pedro Duque communicated with the Education Minister of
Spain and school children. Astronaut Duque is the first Spanish astronaut.

Today, she has several hours off duty. In the off duty period, astronaut
Mukai communicated with his husband, Makio, for 15 minutes.
Other than that, she will conduct the experiments on toad fishes, draw
blood from both astronaut Duque and Glenn, and do exercise. Tonight, she
will wear sleep experiment device to measure the heart rate, electrocardiogram
and others as last night.

Astronaut Mukai pulled out the fish packages, each of which a toad fish
is located, from the Vestibular Function Experiment Unit (VFEU), and gave
it a movement manually. This acceleration enables us to see the change
in neural activity where these fish packages are under microgravity / acceleration
condition.
Crew stowed the sample in a refrigerator and completed the experiment "BRIC-RT
-@Response of roots of wild type and auxin / graviti-sensitivity mutants
of higher plants to electrical field and gravity"
The experiment of "Growth regulation mechanisms" was started
by getting out of the sample from the refrigerator
