Asian Students' Parabolic Flight 2013

Last Updated: January 7, 2014

The 2013 session of the Asian Students' Parabolic Experiment Contest took place at Nagoya Airport on December 25th and 26th, 2013. Student teams from Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam conducted their observations under the microgravity condition produced by the parabolic flight of an airplane. The Malaysian team tried to visualize the sound waves, while the Thai team conducted a test to see whether the cytoplasmic streaming of plant cells changes under different gravity conditions. It was the first time for the Vietnamese team to experience this rare opportunity. The Vietnamese students examined how gyrosensors of smart phones worked under the microgravity condition. All the experiments were conducted as planned. The students are now analyzing their data, and we expect to receive their full reports by the end of March, 2014.
