Clean Environment and Microscope (Phase Contrast & Fluorescence)in JEM

Overview

The Clean Bench consists of two compartments; the Disinfection Chamber (DC) and the Operation Chamber (OC).
Air circulated inside is kept clean by HEPA filters.
Crew members operate the experiment materials with gloves from outside to prevent the ambient air contaminating.

Microscope

Clean Bench has a specially designed microscope in the OC.
Bright-Field, Phase-Contrast and Fluorescence Microscope modes are all available. Objective Lens can be switched among four magnification levels such as x4, x10, x20, x40.

Tele-science

Remote Controlled from ground by telemetry command

The microscope image and operation scene in the OC can be monitored simultaneously on the ground.
The microscope X,Y stage and microscope focus can be controlled from the ground.
The microscope mode (for example, from Phase Contrast to Fluorescence) and Fluorescence filter can be altered from the ground by telemetry command.

Other Functions

Operation in OC

The microscope image and operation scene in the OC can be monitored simultaneously on the ground.
The microscope X,Y stage and microscope focus can be controlled from the ground.
The microscope mode (for example, from Phase Contrast to Fluorescence) and Fluorescence filter can be altered from the ground by telemetry command.
