"Effect of space environment on mammalian reproduction (Space Pup)" experiment has started on Kibo (September 19, 2013)

Japanese Experiment Module "Kibo"s life science experiment "Effect of space environment on mammalian reproduction (Space Pup)" has started.

Rapid report of Hicari experiments [PDF 109KB] (August 23, 2013)

First Hicari experiment (Hicari#1) carried out from 1st to 5th Mar. 2013. Hicari#1 operations in space and on the ground were successful. Hicari#2 experiment carried out in the ISS from 23rd to 27th July 2013. The #2 cartridge will be return on the ground in Nov., 2013 by Soyuz 35. [PDF 109KB]

About the cooperation of JAXA and ASI in the development of CALET (June 10, 2013)

JAXA is now developing CALET(Calorimetric Electron Telescope), as a next space science mission payload through the use of Kibo Exposed Facility. JAXA and ASI made an arrangement in 2011 for the cooperation on CALET mission.

MAXI has detected the remnant of a hypernova explosion in the direction of Cygnus.

Stem Cells experiment studies the effects of space environment to mammalian (mouse) cells using embryonic stem cells (ES cells).

The fifth series of Marangoni Exp/MEIS experiment completed (April 11, 2013)

Marangoni convection experiments investigate the change in internal flow of a large liquid bridge made of silicon oil and the change of temperature distributions along with the flow change.

Hicari Experiment was performed on board the JEM "Kibo" (March 6, 2013)

In the Hicari Exp., a new crystal growth method named the Traveling Liquidus Zone (TLZ) method which JAXA invented for homogeneous semiconductor alloy crystal growth will be evaluated.

JAXA Education Payload Observation "Blue Earth Gazing" was performed on board Kibo (February 26, 2013)

"Blue Earth Gazing" is an art theme of viewing Earth from space through water, which aims to view Earth from a fresh perspective and introduce Japanese aesthetics as well as to lead to develop into rich culture for the future space society.

JAXA Education Payload Observation "Message in a Bottle" was performed again (February 25, 2013)

"Message in a Bottle" is an art project aiming at inspiring people on the ground to feel messages from space, such as the activities performed by astronauts in outer space, relationship between people and space, and a message from space to our descendant, by bringing back the space-filled bottle to Earth.
