JAXA Education Payload Observation (EPO) "Dewey's Forest" was completed.

*Program Proposer: Shiro Matsui, Associate Professor, Kyoto City University of the Arts

Dewey's Forest was completed at 9:15 p.m. on March 15, 2010.

Culture of the Dewey's Forest plants began on December 29, 2009. Since then, Astronaut Noguchi cultured the Dewey's Forest garden plants in a transparent culture case, called the Plant Unit.

On March 9, 2010, the ISS crew members, including Astronaut Noguchi, held a viewing sesson of Dewey's Forest. The astronauts exchanged their opinions over the space garden and gardens on the Earth.

Dewey's Forest was designed to rediscover importance and preciousness of the Earth and relationship between human and nature by comparing the space garden grown aboard Kibo and gardens on Earth.

The Project proposer plans to make artwork using Dewey's Forest.
