Experiment

JAXA PCG (Second session of the second series) has started

Last Updated: October 17, 2014

Protein Crystal Growth experiment (JAXA PCG, second session of the second series) was started on board the ISS Japanese Experiment Module, "Kibo." The experiment hardware and samples were carried aboard the Soyuz TMA-14M spacecraft (40S) launched at 5:25 a.m. on September 26, 2014 (Japan time). The samples were installed in the Protein Crystallization Research Facility (PCRF) the next day, September 27.

The protein samples will be grown under controlled temperature for a month and a half. They will be returned to ground aboard the Soyuz TMA-13M spacecraft (39S) on November 10.

The investigators of this PCG experiment (second session of the second series) are as follows.
